A Study to Determine Patient Waiting Time at the Outpatient Pharmacy at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center

Abstract

Patient waiting time at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center Outpatient Pharmacy had become a concern by the Medical Center's Administrator. Several initiatives have been taken by the Pharmacy Service to reduce these times. This study is directed at one of these initiatives, the installation of satellite outpatient pharmacies in the Primary Care and Pediatric Clinics. Patient waiting times were established before and after the installation to determine if a significant reduction in wait was achieved. Statistical analysis provides evidence that indeed the patient waiting time significantly improved after the satellites were put into operation.
