Time to Job Proficiency: A Preliminary Investigation of the Effects of Aptitude and Experience on Productive Capacity

Abstract

This paper documents the Time to Proficiency (TTP) Study, which is part of a large-scale research and development (R&D) effort to develop a measurement technology for obtaining job performance data. TTP utilizes time- based supervisor rating forms to build an aptitude/experience performance model. The model is described and the solution is presented for one Air Force specialty (Avionic Communications Specialist, 328XO). A sensitivity analysis is presented and recommendations for further R&D are discussed.
