Vision Enhancement for Fire Fighters

Abstract

The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has evaluated various imaging technologies for possible use by shipboard fire fighters. It has been shown that infrared technology may be used to see through the smoke typical of Navy fires, thus significantly increasing the fire fighters' effectiveness. This report summarizes previous investigations conducted in this area as well as details of the tests and evaluations conducted by NRL.
