Living Expert System (LEXSYS). Volume 4
Abstract
This study is the continued development of the Living Expert System (LEXSYS) provided by a study group from the U.S. Army War College Class of 1988. The study addresses the current status of LEXSYS, building and maintaining a data base of experts, data base connectivity and electronic information retrieval, teleconferencing training requirements, and audio-video teleconferencing. Further, the study provides conclusions of the joint applicability, cost analysis and software improvements for LEXSYS. Three prototype tests were conducted during the course of this group effort to evaluate the practicality and the manageability of the system as a decision support mechanism for senior leaders. Prototype issues were acquired from the Army's senior leadership to demonstrate the capabilities of LEXSYS at the highest levels of the Army. Conclusively, LEXSYS should continue to be expanded and used Army-wide as a system to acquire expert information and resolve significant issues for senior leadership in an asynchronous manner. Keywords: Prototypes, Cost analysis.
