High-Temperature Ceramic Superconductors
Abstract
The principal goals of this program are 1) to demonstrate fabrication of high-temperature ceramic superconductors via sol-gel method that can operate at or above 90K with appropriate current density, Jc, in forms useful for application in resonant cavities, magnets, motors, sensors, computers, and other devices; and 2) to fabricate and demonstrate selected components made of these materials, including microwave cavities and magnetic shields. The chemical pathways for preparation of 123 powder, fiber and film have been identified. Precursor compounds; Processing; Sol-Gel monolith; Thin film; High Q cavity; Flux-creep; Electromagnetic properties; Microstructures.
