Establishment of a Separate Optometry Service at Tripler Army Medical Center

Abstract

At Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), a separate Optometry Service was established in May,1988. An implementation plan was developed as well as an evaluation plan. The evaluation was conducted from May, 1988, to May, 1989. The missions, personnel, organizational structure, productivity, quality measures of complaints, staff satisfaction, patient satisfaction, access, and external/ internal quality review of the Optometry Service were examined. The separate Optometry Service functioned well. It was recommended that the separate Optometry Service at TAMC be made permanent.
