NRL/VOA Modifications to IONCAP as of 12 July 1988

Abstract

This report documents modifications made by NRL to IONCAP 85.04, an HF ionospheric propagation prediction computer program developed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. These modifications serve to present the structure of multimode propagation more accurately, to separate the effects on system performance caused by antenna gain and ionospheric structure (thereby making it more suitable for wide-area coverage studies), to incorporate a newer noise model, to improve the accuracy of some calculations, to correct a few programming errors, and to make operation more convenient on the computers in use at NRL. The work was performed under the sponsorship of the Voice of America as a part of its facilities modernization program.
