Advanced Concepts Theory Annual Report 1988

Abstract

This report details the work of the Plasma Radiation Branch with respect to several critical problems concerning the design of z pinch implosions and the optimization of their radiative output. Separate sections describe progress in the analysis of z pinch experiments, the development of atomic, electron, plasma and MHD dynamical models to describe z pinch implosions, and the analysis of plasma opening switches. Keywords: Radiation magnetohydrodynamics; Z pinch physics; Plasma opening switches.
