An Education and Training Strategy for Total Quality Management in the Department of Defense

Abstract

The purpose of this strategy is to provide broad guidelines for planning and coordinating a Total Quality Management (TQM) education and training for the Department of Defense (DoD) work force. The strategy is organized around short-, mid-, and long-range goals. It also describes resources available to DoD training developers and managers who will subsequently be responsible for TQM education and training of their own work forces. Included in this strategy is a description of the educational requirements for a TQM awareness program directed at senior-level and mid-level managers. A methodology for training development is also proposed.
