Abstract

This paper discusses the Navy's homeport plan as it affects the provision of certain specialty health care in the Corpus Christi/Ingleside, TX area. By 1990 the total inpatient catchment area is expected to increase by about one-third. In 1987, Navy Hospital, Corpus Christi (NHCC) operates 40 beds, just over half of which are dedicated to alcohol rehabilitation. Capabilities of NHCC in certain specialty areas and alternatives for providing this care are presented. Options discussed are an all active duty staff, increased use of champus, joint health benefits delivery program and contracting.
