Abstract

This paper addresses the design and implementation of a public relations program in support of the Composite Health Care System at Ireland Army Community Hospital, Fort Knox, Kentucky. A background on the composite Health Care System and its objectives are provided. Important aspects of a basic public relations program are discussed. Internal and external publics are defined and studied to include hospital employees, staff, patients, visitors, local community, and civilian contractors. Local organization and initiatives in implementing a public relations program are examined. Many topics addressed may be applicable to military medical treatment facilities scheduled to receive the Composite Health Care System.
