An Analysis of the Surgery Scheduling Process at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington

Abstract

This study was performed to show a more efficient/effective means of scheduling surgeries at Madigan Army Medical Center. The concept of a surgery scheduling process using predictive data should be disseminated throughout the military health care system. This systematic approach to operating room scheduling management has a demonstrated potential to increase utilization, decrease cancellations, improve staff efficiency and increase patient satisfaction.
