Operation and Characteristics of the Flash X-Ray Generator at the Naval Postgraduate School

Abstract

Installation of the Model 112A Pulserad Pulsed X ray Generator at the Naval Postgraduate School Flash X ray Facility was completed in August of 1988. Characterization of the Pulserad 112A is essential to its effective use in future radiation effects study. This study will describe the basic system components, the principles of beam generation, an the characteristics of the radiation output. Fundamentals of radiation dosimetry and their application to flash X-ray sources will be discussed. Finally, the results of initial mapping of the radiation field generated by the Model 112A Pulserad Pulsed X-Ray Generator will be presented. Keywords Flash X ray; Dosimetry; Thermoluminescence.
