Metabolites of the Fentanyl Family. Synthetic Studies on the 3-Hydroxy Derivatives

Abstract

The 3-hydroxy derivatives of fentanyl, known metabolites of fentanyl, have been synthesized in diastereomerically pure form. These syntheses, which begin with epoxide opening by aqueous aniline, incorporate a novel cyclization- cleavage sequence that makes isomer separation possible.
