A UK (United Kingdom) Perspective on the Uniform Engine Test Programme

Abstract

The Uniform Engine Test Programme (UETP) involved the testing of two Pratt and Whitney J57 engines at seven Government-owned test sites in Europe and North America, four of them having altitude test facilities. This collaborative programme was organized by a working group of the Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development (AGARD) and provided actual test data as a basis for comparison of methods of testing and analysis amongst the international aero engine testing community. An overview of the UETP is given in this Paper, together with a brief review of the test results. Nozzle coefficients are used as a basis for comparing gross thrust and airflow measurements and differences in some of the other performance parameters are compared with the predicted precision and bias errors.
