Repair, Evaluation, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation Research Program. Lubricants for Hydraulic Structures

Abstract

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructs and maintains a multitude of Civil Works hydraulic structures. Uniform guidance regarding the specification and use of lubricants for these structures is not currently available. This research determined lubrication practices and problems by surveying all corps installations having hydraulic structures. Equipment manufacturers and lubricant producers were contacted to obtain state-of-the-art information to help installations determine and obtain appropriate lubricants. Keywords: Lubricants, Hydraulic structures, Corps of Engineers; Surveys.
