Acetylcholinesterase Inhibition and Information Processing in the Auditory Cortex
Abstract
Micropressure application of cholinergic agents to auditory cortex of the cat revealed selective muscarinic modification of background and tone-evoked discharges of single neurons. A real-time algorithm for recording from several single neuron simultaneously was developed, as was a behavioral model exhibiting rapid discriminative learning using rewarding brain stimulation. Keywords: Cholinergic mechanisms; Acetylcholine; Auditory cortex; Neurons; Muscarinic; Atropine; Scopolamine; Acetyl beta methacholine; Brain; Central nervous system. (SDW)
