Array Signal Processing: New techniques for Direction Finding and Spectrum Estimation

Abstract

This research report concerns primarily with new algorithms in estimating signals from sensor output measurements. A complete performance analysis of the proposed algorithms is developed in Appendix A together with new results for resolving two and three uncorrelated/coherent signals. Appendix B concerns with the problem of extending a given set of n autocorrelations so that the power spectral density associated with one-step predictors, the natural extension of maximizing the MMSE for r-step predictors compatible with the given correlations is studied. It is shown here for the first time that the resulting spectrum corresponds to that of a stable ARMA (n, r - 1) process.
