Enhanced Resolution Concepts in Large Scale Scientific Computing

Abstract

Efficient numerical procedures were found for the solution of shock wave interactions in gas dynamics. The wave interactions were idealized as point interactions and were thus equivalent to the solution of Riemann problems. The equation of state was taken in a very general form, as tabular data. The essential problem solved was the use of tabular equation of state data for description real materials and the efficient solution of Riemann problems in this context.
