Evaluation of a Simple Algorithm for Estimating Infrared Signatures from Multi-Pixel to Sub-Pixel Targets Applied to AGA Thermovision Imagery

Abstract

Evaluation of a simple algorithm for estimating the infrared signatures of small multi-pixel and sub-pixel targets in calibrated digital imagery is described. It is concluded that the only errors in the algorithm arise from the digitising process. The algorithm is simple and the target area does not have to be defined, nor does it have to be visible on the displayed imagery. Keywords: Infrared images; Thermal targets; Australia.
