Combustion and Plasma Synthesis of High Temperature Materials

Abstract

The preparation and processing of well characterized materials, including ceramic and composite phases continue to be the focus of widespread research and development activities in the United States and elsewhere. As in other sub-disciplines of Materials Science, and aside from the route of journal publication, a need exists for the exchange of ideas among investigators in this area. This need is especially strong in areas which are rapidly developing or those that represent emerging technologies. It became evident to us and to many of our colleagues that combustion and Plasma Synthesis are examples of these emerging techniques and that an international meeting would be highly desirable. Keywords: Solid state combustion, Combustion, Plasma synthesis, Materials, High temperature materials.
