This volume contains the Keynote Address and 15 unclassified papers out of the 25 presented at the Guidance and Control Symposium, held in San Francisco from 4 to 7 October 1988. The remainder of the papers (except paper Nos 12, 41, 42 and 53, not available at time of printing) are included in the classified supplement CP436.
