Prehistory of the Little Blue River Valley, Western Missouri: Archaeological Investigations at Blue Springs Lake.

Abstract

This report presents the results of intensive archaeological data recovery investigations conducted at three prehistoric sites in the Blue Springs Lake project. The report discusses the geomorphology and vegetation of the Little Blue River valley, Late Quarternary bioclimatic change in Western Missouri and the results of the archaeological excavations. The information recovered from these sites provides new insight into Middle Archaic, Middle Woodland, Late Woodland, and Mississippian Period May Brook phase adaptive patterns in the Kansas City area.
