Integrated IMA (Information Mission Areas) IC (Information Center) Guide

Abstract

This guide addresses the integration of end-user support for the Army's five Information Mission Areas (IMAs) into the Information Center (IC). Army Regulation 25-1, The Army Information Resources Management Program (18 November 88) defines the IMA disciplines as automation, telecommunications, visual information, records management, and publications and printing. Although library management is also an information service, library management is not generally defined as an IMA discipline. Therefore library management is not addressed in this guide. This guide is based on the current research with respect to ICs for the U.S. Army conducted by the Army Institute for Research in Management Information, Communications, and Computer Sciences (AIRMICS). AIRMICS is the research arm of the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command (ISEC). The guide includes three perspectives on the integration of support for the IMA disciplines in the IC. The first perspective is provided by current Army regulations and pamphlets. (rrh)
