Training Procedures for Enhancing Reserve Component Learning, Retention, and Transfer

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of an extensive literature survey conducted to provide the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve, i.e., the Reserve Component (RC), with practicable information on how to train for enhanced soldier performance, General training procedures or strategies are recommended for improving the learning, retention, and transfer of verbal and perceptual motor skills. When incorporated by the military training developer and applied on a task-by-task basis by the RC trainer, these general procedures will help to ensure maximum payoff from the training resources invested.
