Picosecond Laser Facility

Abstract

This report contains the results of our work in setting up, aligning, and characterizing the picosecond pulse laser facility in the Photonics Laboratory. It explains the theory of production of picosecond pulses using a dye laser pumped by a mode locked argon laser. It also briefly describes our suggested uses of this facility. These include degenerate four wave mixing for the measurement of nonlinear optical effects in optical materials and electro optic sampling for the characterization of ultrafast electronic and optoelectronic devices.
