Establishment of a Super Small-Scale Cookoff Bomb (SSCB) Test Facility at MRL

Abstract

A Super Small-scale Cookoff Bomb (SSCB) test facility has been established at MRL to provide data on the cookoff behaviour of energetic materials. The test uses an explosive sample of about 20 g, and the heating rate can be varied. This report describes the test equipment, and reports SSCB test results for several melt-cast explosives and a series of RDX/TATB/Viton compositions. Keywords: Australia; Temperature calibration.
