Attitudes of Female and Male Nurses Toward Men in Nursing: A Replication and Comparison Study

Abstract

Since an earlier nursing shortage in the 1970's there has been a small but significant movement of men into registered nursing. At the same time, there has been a strong feminist movement which has expanded overall career opportunities for women. This shift in career goals for both sexes has increased the potential for gender-based competition. Registered nursing is one of the careers where gender-based competition has the potential for occurring. Attitudes of Female and Male Nurses Toward Men in Nursing: A Replication and Comparison Study.
