Abstract

This thesis identifies system requirements and provides an application system design for an automated Local Area Network (LAN) configuration Management System to be used by the Naval Postgraduate School Administrative Sciences Department LAN Staff. The proposed system will provide a tool to assist the LAN Staff in carrying out maintenance functions such as tracking changes to the hardware and software configuration of LANs. Problem definition, requirements definition, and system design are among issues addressed. This system is intended for use on a microcomputer based database management system. Keywords: Computer networks; Relational database applications.
