Object Orientated Simulation on Transputer Arrays Using Time Warp

Abstract

The successful application of Transputers to distributed event driven heterogeneous simulation using the Time Warp methodology is demonstrated with transputers and occam providing a natural vehicle for this class of simulation. The simulation technique basically comprises a number of communicating simulation object processes, with appropriate action being taken to ensure the correct chronological sequence of processed simulation events. Time Warp is particularly attractive, since it permits all parts of a distributed processor network to operate in parallel (although some of the computation may later be undone). The need for hardware control of memory management has not been identified, although the requirement for a deadlock free, random point to point communications strategy has. Great Britain.
