The El Salvadoran Conflict: A Progress Report

Abstract

This report provides an assessment of the progress made against the insurgents in El Salvador. The assessment includes an in-depth look at the more prominent political, social, economic and military issues that fostered the insurgency. It also explains the factions involved, outlines government actions; and relates the results to date with a view toward examining the progress made against the insurgents since the United States began helping the government of El Salvador. The analysis is written from a military viewpoint; however, its intent is to examine the overall American involvement and interagency coordination.
