To Determine the Method of Scheduling Surgery to Optimize Utilization of Surgical Resources at Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the optimum method of scheduling surgery to make maximum use of the surgical facilities at Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center. Current scheduling methods were assessed. Other Army medical facilities were surveyed to establish alternative methods of scheduling and compare use rates. A need for an improved method of surgery scheduling was established. The author recommended a central surgery scheduling office.
