Integrating Environmental Products into the Combat Direction System

Abstract

Several uses and methods were researched for incorporating natural environmental data into the Combat Direction System (CDS). After an extensive review of CDS requirements, three tactical decision aids were selected for inclusion into the next available version of the CDS. These decision aids are (1 integrated radar coverage (with the effects of the environment) with the tactical picture; (2 the same as the previous decision aid, but with missile profile overlays; and (3 integration of acoustic zones (with environmental effects) with CDS doctrine and the tactical picture. Keywords: Propagation assessment; Environmental data; Command and control; Tactical decision aids.
