One Way Imaging and Amplification Through an Aberrator

Abstract

This report presents the results of an experiment combining one-way image reconstruction using four-wave mixing in carbon disulfide with optical parametric amplification in lithium iodate. A mode-locked Nd:YAG laser was used as the light source, and a resolution target provided the image. The distortions caused by a severe static aberrator were corrected, but only when the four-wave mixing process was confined to a short interaction length and strict alignment conditions were satisfied. The optical parametric amplifier was then used to amplify the distortion-corrected image.
