Intermail and Commercial Mail Relay Services

Abstract

The Intermail and Commercial Mail Relay (CMR) programs forward electronic mail between the Internet and commercial systems such as Telemail, MCI Mail, and Dialcom. This report discusses the history and evolution of these systems and describes the present configuration. The problems encountered in operating a store-and-forward mail relay are also discussed. Current instructions for using Intermail and the CMR are provided as appendices.
