Neural Networks

Abstract

Fundamental properties of neutral networks are discussed and five major models are presented. The emphasis is on the functional interpretation of the describing equations, and includes the nodal activity, learning laws, nonlinear response, stability and overall application areas. Optical implementations by intrinsic nonlinear effects are discussed in detail. Conceptual architectures for the major neural models are presented using optical building blocks for the subsystems. Full concurrent adaptive activity is explicitly included.
