A Comparison of Two Patient Classification Systems in Determining Nursing Care Hour Requirements

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine if a difference between nursing care hour requirements based on the current patient classification system and nursing care hour requirements using the Workload Management System (WMS) existed. The two systems were compared. The two management systems were not equal in their predictions of nursing hour requirements. The WMS consistently predicted higher requirements. The author compared the advantages and disadvantages of the two systems in implementation. Keywords: Resource management.
