Full Vector Wave Calculation of Photonic Band Structures in Face-Centered Cubic Dielectric Media

Abstract

The photonic band structure of a face-centered cubic lattice of spheres in a uniform host medium is calculated. The plane wave method is used to solve the exact Maxwell's equations without the use of the scalar approximation. Detailed comparisons with the available experimental results are made.
