The U.S. Diplomatic Role in Lebanon's Struggle for Independence during the Second World War

Abstract

The primary task of this thesis is to recreate the events and perceptions of the period June 1941 through August 1945 as witnessed by the American Legation in Beirut. This is a case study of U.S. diplomatic history during the Second World War in a country of limited significance to the war and to the United States. This is also an historical case study of a client's attempt to influence the foreign policy of a superpower. Keywords: Lebanon history; Urban areas; Diplomats theses; International relations.
