Estimation of Liquid Heat Capacities. 1. Review and Evaluation of Missenard Method

Abstract

This report uses Missenard group contribution values to calculate heat capacities of 10 compounds for comparison with measured literature values. Comparisons are also made with Kopp's rule. Good agreement between literature and calculated values is obtained with the Missenard group contribution method. Group contribution values and the details of the calculations are provided. Keywords: Liquid; Group contributions; Kopp's rule; Heat capacity; Thermodynamics; Temperature; 1-Amino-pentane; 2-Butanol; Chloroethane; Diethyl disulfide; Cyclohexane; Diethyl malonate; Diethyl sulfide.
