AutoPAVER: A Software Package for Automated Pavement Evaluation

Abstract

This research developed a method that improves data collection and reduces data entry times for Pavement Condition Index (PCI) surveys for use with PAVER, a pavement maintenance management system. The method, AutoPAVER, is a microcomputer software package used to analyze pictures of pavement surfaces and to forward the resulting analysis to PAVER. The user works interactively with the system to identify and classify pavement distresses. Distress measurement and data entry are done on the computer. Keywords: Image processing; Algorithms; Menu.
