Protocol for the RS 232 Interface for Group 3 Facsimile Equipment

Abstract

This report determines the feasibility of the development of a RS- 232-C digital protocol for Group 3 facsimile apparatus. Group 3 facsimile equipment, meeting the requirements established in CCITT Recommendation T.4 & T. 30 is now used extensively throughout the world, and in particular, throughout the U.S. Government. The Group 3 standard fully defines the transmission of binary documents over the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Keywords: Facsimile, Public switched telephone network.
