Database Development for the DMSP Experiments

Abstract

Processed data bases for the SSJ-4, SSM, SSJ-STAR and the SSIES experiments flown on-board the F6, F7, F8 and F9 DMSP vehicles have been created and/or maintained over the lifetimes of the four satellites. An historical overview of the DMSP (Defense Meteorological Satellite Program) project is presented. A description of each of the various payloads on-board the spacecrafts is provided. The data processing systems and associated computer developed for each of the various experiments are described. Relevant calibration tables are provided. And, the formats of the individual data bases associated with each stage of the processing are described. Keywords: Polar orbiting satellites; Telemetry data.
