Research into Traveling Wave Control in Flexible Structures

Abstract

This report summarizes 16 months of research into active control of elastic wave propagation in flexible structures. The report format is that of a brief executive summary supported by an extensive appendix containing the research publications generated in the course of this research. The research performed can be broken into two major fields: (1) Broadband damping by impedance matching the control system to the underlying wave (or dereverberated) impedance of a flexible structure; (2) Sensor development for purposes of wave observation and control.
