Development of Serologic Assays for the Diagnosis of New World Leishmaniasis

Abstract

Murine monoclonal antibodies have been used to recover the genus- specific antigens of the New World Leishmania. These antigens have been used for the development of species-specific serodiagnostic assays and to study the immunopathogenesis of the disease. Seven manuscripts and 10 abstracts have resulted from these efforts. Keywords: Leishmania; Monoclonal antibodies; Serodiagnosis; Antigens; ELISA; Immunopathology.
