Synthesis of Oxides Containing Transition Metals

Abstract

Various techniques are described for the preparation of polycrystalline and single crystal samples of transition metal oxides. The importance of 'precursors' in facilitating the formation of the desired product is discussed. The various problems encountered in the preparation of pure, homogeneous, uniform materials are related to the characterization of these compounds in order to properly describe their properties.
