Abstract

The aim of this volume is to provide a resource to those interested in learning about managing organizations for quality improvement. The materials examine the organizational improvement effort from many different angles: the crucial role of the quality philosophy in the guidance of improvement efforts, the role of top management and of quality professionals in organizational improvement efforts, the effect of reward systems on the process of improvement, the use of the scientific method and of statistical thinking in the definition and improvement of organizational processes, and the development of accounting figures that will be more useful in making strategic decisions.
