Computer Programming and Group Theory
Abstract
This report investigates the use of the personal computer as an aid in the study of Group Theory. Chapter I discusses the basic mathematical concepts used and how they are translated into a programming language. Chapter II describes testing results using the forty non-isomorphic groups of order three to sixteen. Chapter III builds upon the previous chapter, presenting several examples an instructor could use to focus and clarify the ideas presented in the class and text. (cp)
