Battlefield Rehearsals: What Do They Contribute to Combat Power?

Abstract

The role of friction in the conduct of warfare is widely recognized. Techniques are a recognized means of reducing friction by enhancing tactics through the application of personnel and equipment. The impetus for this monograph is the realization that the sole reliance on techniques to reduce the adverse effects of friction and achieve an advantage of relative combat power at the decisive time and place on the battlefield has failed. Other procedures, specifically rehearsals, exist to enhance relative combat power. This monograph examines the contribution rehearsals may make to relative combat power. Keywords: Battle drills, Army techniques, Tactical, Battlefields, Armor warfare. (cp)
