Development of Intercalated Wire and Cable

Abstract

The purpose of this program was to confirm previously reported high electrical conductivity report in intercalated graphite in Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) (1) and in copper sheathed composite wires with intercalated graphite cores (2). The method employed in both of these experimental sets was to first, give careful attention to experimental details and second, to reproduce the essential details employed before in the successful demonstrations. While some very low electrical resistivities were measured, none lower than that of copper were observed. (r.r.h.)
